Writer's Quiz: Is Your Partner Supportive of Your Writing?

Writers! Help me out. I'm hoping to utilize the information gathered from this quiz to inform an article for a journal. This is such a salient topic for writers...having support is essential to success (well, it helps anyway). Other posts will follow at a later date, analyzing this data, as well as problem solving how to help writers who feel they don't get the support they crave from their partners.

The first eleven questions are required, and the 12th is optional. However, I'd appreciate any and all information from you writers who feel unsupported by your partners. If you'd be willing to further dialogue with me about this topic, please leave your email address in the box for question 11.

Thanks so much!

I'm interested in the feedback! I couldn't count not reading/giving feedback as non-support because my husband isn't a reader period. He reads his Bible and that's about as far as it goes and as far as giving feedback, it'd be like me trying to tell him he needs to make a key change while he's playing guitar or singing. Uh, I barely know what that is! So I don't think that's non supportive when he does so much other stuff to show that he does. :)

Oh my word, I can so relate! My husband is quite critical of my writing, even asking frequently why I'm not earning anything off my writing. I recently made the decision to pursue self-publishing, and he's very cynical about it. :/
then your answers will be very helpful liberty! thanks for helping getting the word out!
hey-- don't know if you got my responses. I hit submit, but it didn't do anything! I'll keep trying... :)

did the screen kinda go blank? if so, the answers were submitted. at the top of the screen, it should have said thanks for participating, etc.

thanks for trying! someone else said they had trouble, but i had no difficulty at all, so i'm at a loss as to how to try to help. good to "see" you on here!
I think this is a valuable topic to study. It is one close to my heart. I am definitely interested in pursuing this deeper. Thanks Jeannie!

hmm...not sure why it's doing that for some people. could be a browser issue? are you using firefox?
Thanks for doing this, Jeannie, and I will be interested in the results. I have always felt blessed that my husband is so supportive. Writing is difficult enough without having to endure negativity from your partner.
I'm interested in the feedback you get as well. lisa(dot)godfrees at gmail.com

I love data.

me too! :) thanks lisa.
I hit submit, too, and nothing happened. Suffice it to say my hubby has believed in me even when I don't believe in myself. He is my biggest fan and he's never read my stuff! The man is a saint.
