Writer's Quiz: Are You Scared of Spiders?

I jumped in the shower last night only to find a spider holed up in the corner. It completely unnerved me. I blew at it, flicked water at it (completely terrified I might actually dislodge it) and talked to it, telling it that it's time on earth was short. Then I wondered at my reaction. Thus, you're being treated to this quick quiz. Take just a minute and tell me what you would do.

If you must know, the spider is still in its location. I'm thinking of naming it Toby. My daughter is actually happy about this. ?? Pet spider in the bathroom...yay!

Let's Analyze:

Any great spider stories you want to share? I'm all ears.

You didn't have my response: suck it up with the vacuum.

The place we were on vacation had spider webs everywhere. I wouldn't go out at night when the spiders (which were big and scary) were out. I try to act cool around them, for my kids' benefit.
Felt like one was crawling on me in the middle of the night the other night. Wake up to see one on our ceiling. Good times! :D
Our spider story is family legend. :) My mom is deathly afraid of spiders (which she passed on to me ;)). When my mother was pregnant with me they were driving home from Lamaze classes (which my dad equates with horror films :)) and they were on the highway when my mom starts hitting my dad's arm. He looks over and she has this look of panic on her face. He asked her what was wrong and she wouldn't answer, just kept hitting his arm. Then she put her feet up on the dashboard and he panics that she's in labor or something. She puts her foot up and kicks the windshield and it completely shatters.

"What is it????"

My mom sat for a second before replying, "A spider."

The best part was she completely missed it. :)
Ha! This is hilarious timing because there was a spider in my van door today, and I tried to flick it to the ground to kill it, but it just kept burrowing in a spot where I couldn't get it. I'm seriously freaked out to open my van door now because I don't know where the nasty thing is. :) Hmm, if you're naming your spider Toby, maybe mine should be Coby. :)
A spider in the shower is going to meet an instant demise via drowning. Yuck!

My favorite thing in the world is a quiz show, 'University Challenge,' so you can see what kind of sad person I am.
