What Your Character's Grandparents Say About Him or Her

A great question to ask your character to determine how much influence a character's ancestors had on him or her is this: "What kind of lives did your grandparents live?" There are four general answers (according to my transactional analysis research)

Home in Dallas (Highland Park), lake house in Brands Crossing (town founded by ancestors).
Grandfather head of development/construction/management company in Dallas (family company). Native Texan--ancestors go back to War of Independence with Mexico. After retirement move permanently to Brands Crossing, becomes involved in local politics.
Grandmother gardener, cook, book lover. Grew up in New Orleans. Ancestors early French plantation owners in Louisiana.
Grandparents married over fifty years when grandfather died after car crash.
